Modern drawing since the end of the 19th century has been characterized by a great deal of freedom in the choice of graphic media. The boundary between painting and drawing blurs all the more than the color design, for example with the help of pastel colors and chalk, or the plastic design by blurring and rubbing, let the clarity of the line recede into the background. In Expressionism, the line gives way to the expressive, dramatic stroke. Whether a picture is a drawing or a painting can no longer be answered unequivocally with the help of the classic criteria. Andreas Loeschner-Gornau's drawings are records of his sensitivities as a reaction to observations of social processes. The motoric guidance of the hand coming from the subconscious creates the line. The idea is at the beginning. In a kind of meditative way, the work is created, which can then be consciously evaluated and reworked in a renewed meditation or not. Waiting times in the work process are annoying for the artist. Everything must develop in a flow. From the compression of the thought in the phase of meditation, the work arises as in an explosion, comparable to a big bang.
